What We Believe

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." - A.W. Tozer

Core Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of Church 8025 based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. Our teaching will always follow these biblical doctrines.

God

WE BELIEVE there is only one God,
the uncreated Creator, who exists eternally.

God the Father is an infinite, eternal, personal Spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love; that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men; that He hears and answers prayer; and that He saves from sin and death all those who come to Him through Jesus Christ

Colossians 1:17

Jesus

WE BELIEVE that Jesus is the Son of God.

God became flesh in the person of Jesus Christ, conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, and is true God and true man. Jesus Christ died for our sin as a substitutionary sacrifice, and all who believe in Him are declared righteous on the basis of His shed blood. We believe in the bodily resurrection of Christ, His ascension into heaven, and His present life for us as Advocate before God the Father.

Matthew 1:18-25 | Mark 10:45 | Acts 1:9-11 | Hebrews 7:25

Holy Spirit

WE BELIEVE the Holy Spirit of God comes to live within a person once they trust in Christ as their Savior.

The Holy Spirit indwells all believers to live a powerful Christ-like life, to build an intimate relationship with God, to secure salvation, and to give gifts that build the church and spread the Gospel.
All Christians still struggle with sin but God is in the process of transforming them into the likeness of His Son by the indwelling of His Spirit.

Romans 8:11-13

Salvation

WE BELIEVE that salvation is by grace alone
through faith alone in Christ alone.

God loves us, and by His grace, delights and desires to rescue us and to restore us in our relationship with Him. God stepped into our broken world to give forgiveness and life to all who trust in His salvation, Christ as our Savior.Jesus died on the cross as a perfect substitute for our penalty of sin, and resurrected to overcome death caused by sin. Through faith in Jesus Christ – not being good enough or doing enough good – we are restored to a right relationship with God.

John 3:5-7

Baptism

WE BELIEVE baptism in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Water baptism is only intended for those who have received the saving benefits of Christ through the new birth of the Holy Spirit. In obedience to Christ’s command and as a testimony to God, the Church, oneself and the world, believers are baptized by water in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Water baptism is a visual and symbolic demonstration of a person’s union with Christ in the likeness of His death and resurrection. It signifies that a former way of life has been put to death and vividly depicts the release from the mastery of Satan, sin and death.

Matthew 28:19

Sin

WE BELIEVE sin has separated all people
and all people are in desperate need of a savior

God created men and women to live in relationship with Him, but the first humans chose to rebel against God and brought sin into the world. Sin spread like a virus to all humans, and all have sinned, and our sin has separated us all from God.

Genesis 3  |  Romans 3:9-20

Bible

WE BELIEVE the Bible consists of 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, are the inspired and inerrant written Word of God.

The Bible is God’s Word to us, written by men who were inspired by God. God wrote His Scriptures to reveal Himself to mankind, and to direct us in His best way to live life.

2 Timothy 3:16-17

Church

WE BELIEVE  the Church is the body of Christ whose purpose is to show the glory of God to the world by making disciples of Jesus.

The church is God’s powerful plan for His people. Living in community as a diverse family, loving and serving and helping one another grow in our faith, we reveal God’s plan for restoring goodness into our world.

1 Corinthians 12:12-31 | Matthew 28:18-20

Humanity

WE BELIEVE  all humanity is created in the image of God
and possesses intrinsic dignity and worth.

Men and women were created to bring glory to God and are meant to compliment one another. They enjoy equal access to God by faith in Christ Jesus and are both called to move beyond passive self-indulgence to significant private and public engagement in family, church and civic life.

Genesis 1:27-30

Gifts

WE BELIEVE  the Holy Spirit gives spiritual gifts to each believer.

These gifts are to be used for building up the Body of Christ – the Church – according to biblical guidelines and priorities.

1 Corinthians 12:1-11 | Romans 12:6-8
